Rough-in electrical and plumbing is done. Both have been inspected this week and passed.

A Little Colour

The house has been painted. I like the colour.

What a Difference Two Weeks Make

The house has changed. In the last two weeks the following things have happened:
The roof has been shingled
The siding is on
The front door is in
The back door is in
The Garage doors are in (I LOVE them, I think they are a fun touch)
The cement floor for the garage has been poured
The furnace is in
The HVAC is almost complete
The electrical has been started
The plumbing is almost done
The tubs are in the house-ready to be installed




I drive by almost daily just after dropping Jacob off at Kindergarten. I think Eliza is a little sick of that. She calls it "the new house" but I don't think she really realizes we are actually going to live there. We talk about it but since it hasn't happened yet she doesn't believe it. To her its just become a bother to have to drive by pick up mail and walk through the house periodically. She has realized if she tells me she has to go potty we leave quickly. She would like to test out the honey bucket on the lot, I on the other hand would rather not have her test it out.

Roof

December 31st the framing for the roof was finished being put on the house. Wow-that went fast. I love the peak lines of the roof and how high it is. I think it looks beautiful. Watching these builders build has given me a greater appreciation into the skill that it takes to build a house. Its an incredible skill and an art all at the same time. I can't believe how quickly things have gone in this process. I know that the longest part will be the interior. It still feels surreal to me that in a few months time we will be moving into this house.

Roof or Ruff/Rough?

I was born in California and moved to the great state of Washington before starting elementary school. Because I was born of non-native washingtonians I was not taught the local pronunciations. One of those being the pronunciation of the word roof. Native speakers pronounce this word quite differently (Rough or Ruff). No matter how you pronounce it the framers started assembling the different sections of the trusses to the roof today.

Framing & House Tour

We got to walk around our house today. Depending on how big the file is I will try to upload a video of the house tour. It is kind of hard to see it in the pictures but walking through is kind of fun to see what the house will look like.
